Thanks Rona,

Yes I am aware of the situation in the UK and I have had dealings with some people of very doubtful intentions! I believe there are a few genuine CWD in the UK and would like to point this out in an the article. The article will also try and differentiate between the cross-breeds and the pedigree CWD and Saarloos.

As it is now clearly legal to own these two wolfdog breeds, it is up to the genuine breed enthusiasts to form a club, keep proper records and with the help of the breed clubs in Europe and the FCI to have the breeds recognised by the UK Kennel Club, otherwise the Uk will remain a disaster area for all wolfdogs.

I have also met some owners of the cross breeds and can say not all are bad people and the dogs are very friendly, though I understand the fears of CWD owners who live outside the UK who think these cross bred dogs may be mis-represented as the real breed. I am also aware of rumours that CWD are being crossed with timber wolves; these dogs are NOT legal in the UK.
Best wishes,

Loup-de-Bretagne

Hi Tikaani,

Thanks for your reply, may I ask how long you have had your dog/bitch or how old he/she is? Also what attracted you to the breed and what do you like most about the breed?

Best wishes

Hi , I have had kaya for just under a year now, she has a great temperment and is fantastic with the kids. I have been Interested in them for a few years after meeting some and fell in love with them. her name on this data base is maya shoshone. I love the fact that shes more like a kangaroo then a dog, jumping around all day and shes very loving, she loves laying over my girlfreinds feet all day and she loves kaya for keeping her feet warm ha ha. shes very good on a lead but she likes a good run around my mates farm.

Sorry, tikaani, but your reply is not very helpful

Hi tikaani

what attracted you to the breed? Have you had other dogs and if so would you say the CWD is not really suitable as a first dog? Since you had your dog have you met many other owners in the UK.

I am sorry to start another argument thread! If those owners of the 28 dogs in the UK got together and started a club they would be in a strong position with the Kennel Club.

Best wishes.
