hd/ed evaluation in your country

hello people, i'd like to know what is the minimum age for official hd/ed evaluation in your countries? at us it was 15 months, but seems now we have no limit anymore... so we're curious how it works in europe, especially in slovakia and czech republic.

In the US, for the comparable "official" exam (OFFA), it is 24 months. The science is based on this information:
http://www.offa.org/hd_prelims.html

Our PennHip exam is reliable from 4 months of age, but it is a totally different method.

I personally had one CSV male who tested normal for HD at 17 months, but was later diagnosed at 27 months with C hips.

In Poland its still 15 months for HD/ED

It's minimum 15 months in Poland, but we waited to nearly 18 months to have a more reliable result.

very interesting. we have hd/ed official certificate with fci logo (also signed as international), so i guess requirements must be unified for all fci members/fci recognized organizations... or not?

In Poland the National Kennel Club (acting under FCI auspices) indicated a few vets in the whole country, who have the right to act on behalf of them.

This means that even if the dog is X-rayed by another (local) vet, the X-ray pictures and the dog's pedigree are forwarded to one of the appointed vets, who assesses the HD/ED results, and stamps and signes the pedigree.

this is most interesting. if in poland and in italy you get the same certificates, why are these requirements are not the same too? :?

There are two central reading for the official X-rays, each of them has a list of accredited veterinarians to either spread throughout the Italian territory. You are forced to choose one of these vets, which makes the X-ray and sends it to the official reading station to which he is affiliated. Is sent to the plate and the original pedigree, the central reading certifies the pedigree and sends him back home with the dog owner's written response to the international certificate (fci) and the analysis of radiographic. The same central comunicates to Enci the response of the plates so as to update the pedigree of the descendants of that subject examined. Also the dog is tattooed in one ear, or registered with the code of his x-ray to its microchip number.

You can do a hip score at 4 months in OFFA in the USA, but until 24 months the results are considered only "preliminary".

PennHip advises optimally that owners repeat screenings to monitor trends and that screenings at 2 years old are still marginally better than those done at 4 months old.

In Sweden the limit is 12 month, but for large breed dogs 18-24 month is recomended for female / male dogs

Best regards / Mikael

In Czech Republic the limit is 15 months. There are nine veterinarians -accredited by the Club- that make the x-rays and set the score.

Hello,

In Romania is 12 months minimum; large breeds between 15-18 months.

monita 06-11-2011 20:01

In Hungary, the accepted border is 24 months at big-bodied dogs. Filtering under that is rejected. Under 24 months, they only count as pre-filterings. It is not official, but people exploit it.
