Question about Kennel Club registration?

Hello,

I would like some input on kennel club registration as it works in the FCI.

Right now when I search Japanese Kennel Club (JKC) site, it does not appear to me that CW is listed as a recognized breed. But I also know that Japan/JKC is a member of the FCI. FCI recognizes CW because of Slovakian Kennel Club, also a member. Does that mean Japan in a reciprocal manner also accepts CW? Can I register CW in Japan then?

I assume this works the same for any FCI member. So any owner or breeder who has a registered CW living outside of the Slovakia, in a country that is part of FCI, can probably help me out... this means most of Europe, including Germany, France, Czech Republic, etc.

Can somebody please help me out?

Thanks.

Jing

I guess, you should contact JKC for the most exact information ;)

Yep, only JKC knows that...

For example in Norway and Denmark some breeds are banned by law even if they are recognised by the FCI...

CsV is still banned in Norway by law, and in Sweden the Swedish kennel club did not recognised CsV until 2007 even if they was allowed by law in 1997

Therefor I think you are to trust JKC´s answer only in this matter.

Best regards / Mikael

Thank you Vaiva and Mikael!

I did not know that being part of the FCI could mean some KC's can still have their own exceptions.

I will contact the JKC and see.

Vaiva-

Good news! I went back to JKC site and read more in detail. Here is what it says about imported single registration.

http://www.jkc.or.jp/modules/registr...?content_id=25

Basically translated is that JKC accepts the registration of any FCI-member countries as well as AKC, KC (England) and Canadian KC. It excludes Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is no breed ban listed.

To register a dog you must submit DNA (7500yen per dog), Import Certificate from Japan, photograph, and also certified copy of FCI-member issued pedigree.

FCI-member pedigree must be in owner's name and must list an address in Japan. If not, the person has to file a change of name or address with original FCI-member country.

Also, the JKC does not accept any breed that is not recognised by the FCI.

:wolfie That means that if we don't complete any certificate in time we can still do so overseas! That is great news for us!

Thanks again for informing me only JKC can set the national rules!
